STANDARD DENTAL IMPLANT SYSTEMS

Implant is an artificial root of the tooth made of bio-material for the replacement of lost teeth. In most of the cases it is made of non-compounded titanium, which is completely adoptable for the human organism. Tooth replacement implant is just as strong and useable as natural teeth.

May I have one done?

In a standard situation yes, but a preliminary examination, x-ray and consultation is necessary to give exact answer for this question. The surgery is antedated by the planning, when it is decided that in the given case what type, how long and how many implants are needed.

When will I have teeth?

The healing period, when strong attachment forms between bone and implant takes for approximately 3 months. The next phase is the de-allocation of implants and after the placement of the head comes the preparation of the tooth replacement.

And what comes after?.

Replacement with implants needs increased oral hygiene. Regular, yearly dental control of implants is also necessary.

Why is it better than a bridge?

In case of implant replacement the usage of the adjoining teeth is unnecessary. At rear defects, besides the removable prosthetic teeth, this is the only professionally accepted solution. Implant is the ideal alternative of the partial removable replacements and it is also a good solution in case of fixing completely removable replacements.

What type of anesthesia will be used, is the operation painful?

A dental implant is surgically placed under local anesthesia causing the procedure to be generally not at all painful.

What happens if the dental implants are rejcted?

In occasional cases when the dental implants fail or are rejected, they can be replaced with another implant, usually of a slightly larger size. The rate of failure is only about 1-5%. This might be somewhat higher in smokers and people with compromised immune system. The key element to determinig implant success is proper diagnosis and treatment planning.
